Moon Over Buffalo: The Hit Broadway Comedy by Ken Ludwig
Moon Over Buffalo, directed by Bill Barksdale, is a fast-paced, comic love letter to live theater. Look out Noises Off. This may be funnier. There is almost literally a laugh a minute. Like the great comic playwrights of yesteryear, Ken Ludwig is a master of the laugh. Moon marked the return of Carol Burnette to Broadway.
Its the 1950s and faded Broadway stars, George & Charlotte Hay, are certainly down on their luck as they struggle to juggle their productions of Noel Coward's Private Lives and Cyrano De Bergerac in summer stock! Lines and characters get mixed up. George and Charlotte are fighting. Daughter, Rozs clueless fiancé is just finding out about Paul. Company actress, Eileen, is pregnant - oops. And everything that can go wrong does, just a Hollywood producer, Frank Capra, is showing up to see todays matinee. As sassy stage-manager, Ethel says The only good thing about Buffalo is that its named after an animal!
Critic, Liz Smith of the New York Post said This has to be one of the most hysterical things ever put onstage. I have seen Moon Over Buffalo three times! I expect you to see it once. You may want to see it more.
