Comedy Returns to El Rio!
Comedy Returns to El Rio! is a popular monthly comedy show (every 3rd Thursday of the month) co-produced by Kung Pao Kosher Comedy's Lisa Geduldig and El Rio. The show, now in its 9th year, takes place at El Rio in San Francisco's Mission District and showcases an eclectic, multicultural mix of intelligent, progressive comedians from the Bay Area and beyond.
This months show, which takes place on Thursday, October 19, features Nate Blanchard Dom Gelin, Jill Maragos, Chelsea Eiben, and Lisa Geduldig.
Nate Blanchard is an Oakland-based stand up comedian and artist. Since starting performing in 2008, he has appeared on stages across the Bay Area and Europe, including the SF Punchline, El Rio, and the English Theater Berlin. In 2012, Nate starred in the viral YouTube video, Sh*t Expat Berliners Say, and his six-episode comedy showcase, the Neukölln Confessional, debuted on Germany's ALEX network in Winter 2014. Since returning to California, he continues to stun audiences with his fabulous misadventures and bittersweet perspective.
Dom Gelin is an Oakland-based comedian who offers strong opinions on stupid things, -isms, and a-holes. She has performed at SF Sketchfest, Bostons Women in Comedy Festival, and was a finalist for the Ultimate Miami Comedian. She has also touched the stage of a really famous comedy club that one time.
Jill Maragos developed her sense of humor and knack for storytelling as a survival tactic for growing up with a crazy family in Buffalo, NY. With degrees in Broadcast Journalism and Mechanical Engineering, she made the natural progression into stand up comedy. She has appeared on Laughs (FOX), Comedy Time for The Ice House in Pasadena, and West Coast Comedy. Jill performs all over the country.
Chelsea Eiben is from Thousand Oaks, California and moved to San Francisco in 2011. She first did stand up in 2001 in San Diego at the Comedy Store and has been doing stand up recreationally ever since. She has performed in Orange County and Los Angeles and was part of Hella Funny in San Francisco, performing at the Great Star Theater in 2014. She is happy to regale audiences with topics ranging from being gay to dialogues with her cat Marbles.
Lisa Geduldig is a local comic and comedy producer whos the creator, producer, and MC of a variety of comedy shows including Kung Pao Kosher Comedy™ (celebrating its 25th Anniversary this December!); Funny Girlz: A Smorgasbord of Women Comedians; The Color of Funny: A Multi-Cultural Comedy Show; and A Muslim, A Mormon, and A Jew Walk into A Bar: The Comedy of Religion. This month she is starting another monthly comedy show, Comedy at Ashkenaz! on the second Thursday of the month at Ashkenaz in Berkeley. Lisa moonlights as a bilingual (Spanish-English) publicist.
Must be over 21 as it's a bar.
