District 798
Until December 10, Think Tank is showing DISTRICT 798, a groundbreaking show of new work by multicultural artists inspired by China's dissident Xiong Collective.
As a rare, special event Think Tank hosts the exiled Xiong member Lin Bo on Wednesday through Sunday nights at 7:30pm for exclusive presentations of his latest work, CAUGHT.
Lin Bo (b.1976, Shanghai) is a Chinese conceptual artist most often associated with the so-called confrontation movement. He is the first member of the Xiong Collective to speak publicly in the US. In 2012, he was jailed in China for two years as a direct result of his art piece "rally."
In CAUGHT, Mr. Lin will recount "rally" and will share details of life inside Detention Center 7. In keeping with his past work, Mr. Lin's harrowing tale becomes a piece of performance art itself, not to be missed.
PERFORMANCES: Wednesdays-Sundays at 7:30pm for a limited engagement ending December 10. *Wednesday presentations have been added due to popular demand and feature an alternate cast.
TICKETS: $45-$80, with different levels of food/beverage included *Friday & Saturday drinks = speciality cocktails, beer, and wine sponsored by Kin White Whiskey and Silencio Mezcal *Thursday & Sunday drinks = CBD teas, sponsored by hmbldt, who also offer pot samples during intermission and post show
In honor of Xiong Collective, BLACK AND WHITE ATTIRE IS STRONGLY ENCOURAGED.
