Indianapolis City Market will host the 131st Birthday Celebration of the Historic Market House on Dec. 9 at 7p.m. The celebration honors the history of the Market House, aiming to raise funds and increase awareness to ensure the preservation of downtown Indianapolis first and only public Market House.
The MRKT BALL 2017 celebration on Dec. 9, 2017, will have a 1950s Rock N Roll theme a 60 year tribute to the last concert ever held in Tomlinson Hall before it burned in January 1958. That show in November 1957 consisted of Ray Charles, Bo Diddley, Joe Turner and many other big names of the era.
MRKT BALL 2017 will be a black-tie or costume gala benefitting City Market, specifically a number of placemaking improvement projects intended to make City Market a more enjoyable place for people to be. Guests of MRKT BALL will be welcome to stroll through the Historic Market House and enjoy the live music by local group Chamber Music, including captivating tunes of the 1950s, try food samples courtesy of Market House merchants, and view a historical exhibition of Market House treasures.
Early Bird tickets will be available for purchase beginning Monday, Oct. 9, and Standard ticket prices will be available on Monday, Nov. 6.
