Bees and Seeds
Pollinators like bees are critical to the way plants grow and to the production of seeds! Get a chance to observe honey bees up close. Learn more about the relationship between bees and flowers, what's going on with bees, and ways we can help with Erin Rupp of Pollinate Minnesota and Koby Jeschkeit-Hagen of Seed Sages. Instructor Information: Erin Rupp has been an informal science educator for her adult life and a beekeeper for the past ten years. She founded Pollinate Minnesota in January 2015, to connect students and teachers of all ages to live honey bees and to the science, policy and media story of pollinator decline. Erin serves on Governor Daytons Committee for Pollinator Protection.
Koby Jeschkeit-Hagen is one seed saver along a long line of great teachers and breeders before her. While her daytime job farm management and community outreach coordination, seed stewardship and biodiversity conservation is a driving force behind her work. With a masters in Community and Regional Planning, she draws on many approaches to share diverse seed saving, farming and community-building methods.
