Special Cinema Screening, "Altered States"
Join TPR for a special off-season screening on Tuesday, October 2th of "Altered States." In this hallucinatory, influential sci-fi phantasmagoria, a Harvard scientist (William Hurt) subjects himself to a series of tests involving mind-altering drugs, hoping to explore different levels of human consciousness, but he winds up deteriorating into a primeval being. Blair Brown and Bob Balaban also star in the film, featuring an Oscar-nominated score by John Corigliano. Altered States was also nominated for its hair-raising sound effects.
