 The Curious Theatre Branch Presents
 a benefit reading/singing of

 The Threepenny Opera

-The gangster as pillar of society, or, how we like our beggars served-

The Curious Theatre Branch is proud to revisit Obie-award-winning
playwright Rick Burkhardt's 2005 adaptation of Bertolt Brecht and Kurt
Weill's 1928 classic.  Originally performed by the Nonesense Company,
Burkhardt "set[s] the story in an occupied Middle Eastern nation and
turn suave thug Mack the Knife into an amalgam of international
financier, terrorist, and corporate CEO, aptly embodying Brecht's
dictum that crime and business are pretty much interchangeable"
 (Justin Hayford, Chicago Reader).
