The Silent City II
The brain-child of Lauren Gurgiolo (The Octopus Project, Okkervil River), Wendy Mitchell (The Stuffed Animal Rescue Foundation, Austinist.com), and Lindsay Greene (Paula Nelson, Ray Price), The Silent City II is the next iteration of an ongoing series of interactive / intermedia experiences that has included The Silent City I (MOHA, 2016, Austin, TX), The Quality or Condition (Studium, 2015, Austin, TX), The Quality or Condition, Ivy (The Belmont, Artbash 2015, Austin, TX), and Calculated Carelessness (2013, Austin, TX).

The Silent City II is an audience-propelled musical audio play in four acts, set in the ambiguous future. Immersed in a glowing, dynamic environment, attendees will play audio consoles following a simple projected graphic score. Shows will feature low-pressure/anxiety-free audience participation (observers-only are also very welcome), live musical performances composed by Lauren Gurgiolo, and an journey with Eury, a super computer in a state of existential crisis.

Expect hand-cast illuminated resin lights, futuristically retro hand-wired musical consoles, and a fascinating story unfolding as participants trigger their parts on cue.

Join us for this latest in a series of interactive/intermedia experiences:

Performances are September 22-24, 2017 at The Museum of Human Achievement in Austin, TX, with two shows each night on Friday and Saturday, and a kid-friendly exploration and explanation workshop on Sunday afternoon.

Rewards include: music from The Silent City I, music from The Quality or Condition, entrance to an exclusive opening party with interplanetary cocktails and Martian snacks (sorry, I cannot sign autographs, because the Eury Model  35  does not have a body or hands), hand-cast energy source illuminated hanging resin lamps, and interactive illuminated musical consoles.
