Fall 2017 SCPG Steep Slopes on Puget Sound

As the rainy season approaches, concerns about landslides increase in the Puget Sound area. Join us for a day of learning about steep slopes, including geology, landslides on Puget Sound, tools and resources, and planning and permitting issues.
After a brief introduction, we will head to a nearby beach, taking advantage of the outgoing tide, and walk to several locations to view undeveloped and developed slopes. We will then return to the Lacey Community Center to discuss what we saw, and learn more about issues regarding steep slopes.
Speakers will include Hugh Shipman, WA Department of Ecology; Wendy Gerstel, Qwg Applied Geology; Trevor Contreras, WA Department of Natural Resources, and local planners.
