NJW Presents Cabaret At The Workshop with Carolyn German
On Sat, September 16 at 8pm the Nashville Jazz Workshop will present the next installment in its Cabaret at the Workshop series featuring vocalist Carolyn German.

With all the spark, wit, and snap that are hallmarks of her performances, vocalist and composer Carolyn German is back with her latest cabaret creation, "So Many Layers: Songs About Complicated Humans and Cake."

German captures both the hilarious and the humble nuances of the everyday people with her unexpected and delightful musical choices.  Combining her unique ability to find emotional intricacies in a lyric and her flair for all things funny, "So Many Layers" includes tunes ranging from bold parodies to tender ballads, and all are impeccably accompanied by pianist Jeff Lisenby.

Carolyn German has been a performing-arts professional for over 35 years, having worked as an vocalist, actor, director, lyricist, producer, playwright, composer and guest speaker. Her stage performance credits span from Off-Broadway to regional tours, and include DCs prestigious Studio Theater, and over 25 projects with Tennessee Repertory Theater.

In her seamlessly-crafted cabaret performances, Carolyn delivers comedic tour-de-forces and tender ballads with equal skill. She has brought her vocal artistry to cabarets in a wide variety of venues, from New York City, to cruise ships in the Gulf of Mexico, to the Smithsonians Museum of American History.  Broadway actress Jeri Sager says Carolyn squeezes every drop out of a lyric and makes it seem effortlessBrava!"

Carolyn is a founding member of the Spontaneous Comedy Company,  she works with the corporate sector to improve creativity and communication skills in the workplace, and teaches Improv Comedy for Life Skills to youth through the Restorative Justice in the Arts Project. She recently published the Vocal Selections to her musical revue "Go From Here," and to her 2016 cabaret hit "Songsplaining."

There will be two sets beginning at 8:00 pm in the Jazz Cave at the Workshop. Tickets go on sale Monday, September 4 at 10am, and are $25 ($15 for high school and college students). Advance purchase is strongly recommended.
