What would you do if your best friend and lover fell ill and the whole world felt like it was against you because you are different and they don't understand?

William M. Hoffman's play evokes the love, fear, loss, and finally acceptance felt at the beginning of the AIDS crisis in 1980s New York City. Above all, it honors the essential people who persisted and became the light of hope in the darkest of times - the volunteers, home care workers, nurses, friends, and family.

In an age where the sick and in need have become highly politicized, this story of love, sickness and acceptance should resonate today and warn us. Hoffman reminds us to recognize the simple fact that we are all human with very human needs, and rightfully deserve dignity in our weakest moments.
