5/13/18 (Charlottesville) "Latin American Baroque: Music from New Spain"
Music of the baroque thrived in the New World as well as the Old. Spanish colonizers and missionaries taught native peoples to play European instruments and to compose in the baroque style. Joined by bass Peter Walker, Three Notchd Road performs both instrumental and vocal works sung in the Nahuatl and Quechua languages in an exploration of this unique episode of musical transplantation and adaptation.
