PUNslingers: A Competitive Pun Competition
PUNslingers is a competitive pun tournament. Anyone can watch, but only the finest pun-masters around can compete (actually, you just have to be one of the first 15 to sign up at the door).
These verbal wizards will compete in several themed rounds of wordplay, each time having only 90 seconds to spontaneously generate a pun about that theme. The competitors present their puns head-to-head and the incredibly scientific and accurate "Applause-o-Meter" is used to determine the winner. Ultimately, one punslinger will leave victorious with a cash prize in hand.
All proceeds from PUNslingers will go to benefit the Open Stories Project, an after school creative writing program that connects public school students with local artists. The students spend eight weeks workshopping stories and poems and then they're paired with an artist who illustrates their work. The stories and illustrations are then published in a book.
