Bits & Wits: A FemCom Sketch Comedy Workshop
This workshop teaches women how to channel their experiences into written comedy sketches. If youve ever wanted a crash course on writing comedy scenes or just need a reminder that your uniquely female voice matters, this is the workshop for you! Over the course of two hours, participants will engage in hands-on activities to help them create, perform and edit their own sketch ideas.
The workshop will be presented by sketch duo Pure & Weary, made up of Katherine Biskupic and Leah Frires. Trained at The Second City and The Annoyance Theatre, Pure & Weary play off of their opposite qualities as performers under a theme for each show. Pure & Weary recently performed at the Chicago Sketch Comedy Festival, the Dallas Comedy Festival, the Crossroads Comedy Festival, the New Movement Theatre-NOLA, the BigLittle Comedy fest, Philly Sketchfest and the NYC Sketch Fest. Their YouTube videos have been featured on UPROXX, Chicago Now, Comediva, Funny Women, Girl Talk HQ, WhoHaHa, USA Today and Chicago Hustles Magazine. Their pilot, Title IX was a semifinalist for the Second City Original Sitcom Contest. They are a part of the iO Comedy Network Collective producing monthly sketch videos.
