Mission Hills Heritage Annual Historic Home Tour
Private homes open for tour guests
This year Mission Hills Heritage is showcasing Craftsman, Then & Now. Guests will view a variety of houses: some as originally constructed, another quite new, and a number that have been remodeled or restored. Four are historically designated.
Docents will relate the history and distinguishing characteristics of Craftsman architecture and interior details. The enduring popularity of both the Craftsman building and period furnishings are illustrated by the newer home on the tour. Guidelines for historical designation and the Mills Act, and remodeling historic houses will be addressed.
Complimentary refreshments featuring our almost famous homemade cookies will be served throughout the day at one of the homes.
Registration in advance is $5 less than on day of the tour and won't require waiting in the purchase line. On Saturday, September 23, guests will pick up their informative souvenir booklets and ticket wristbands at Pioneer Park, located at 1521 Washington Place, between 9:30 am and 3 pm. It includes a map and professional photographs with descriptions of the homes. Houses will be open for viewing between 10 am and 4 pm.
