Biblical Heroes in Opera: Samson and Dellah and Nabucco
This new series presents a fresh view of biblical heroes as depicted in famous operas. A scintillating conversations between world renowned opera expert Peter Grunberg of the San Francisco Symphony and San Francisco Opera, and Rabbi Yoshi Fenton Associate Director of Bureau of Jewish Education. The two will screen opera excerpts and explore Samson the iconic Jewish hero and controversial monk figure from the opera Samson and Delilah by Camille Saint-Saëns and on the second event focus the storyline of the opera Nabucco by Giuseppe Verdi and it's biblical origins.
