Serving the underserved: Latino/Hispanic Diversity, Cultural Competence and Mental Health.
Latinos in the United States are a diverse group with differing social, economic, and political reasons for migrating to the United States. Latinos not only arrive from many different countries, but from many different cultural backgrounds which maintain their own traditions and rituals. It would be a disservice to the Latino population if the professionals surrounding them do not understand the impact those difference have on acculturation and mental health. This training will provide participants with an introduction to the basic concepts of Latino diversity and culturally competent practice.
*Participants will be eligible for 3 CECs.
