25th July 2017 - Introduction to Bicycle Maintenance
This 4-hour bicycle maintenance course covers all the useful tips so you can keep your bike running for longer. We cover how to check a bike is safe as well as general set up, to make sure your bike is comfortable for you. We also look at useful basic tools and spares, how to clean and lubricate different parts of the bike, how to adjust brakes and replace pads, replace cables, index gears, and repair punctures.
The course will last for 4 hours, it is in a bicycle workshop with all the tools available, and parts to buy if needed, the course will be led by a qualified cycle maintenance tutor (City & Guilds Level 2 Mechanic).
We find the most benefit is gained if you work on your own bike during the lesson, so please bring your own bike if you can. If this is not possible then we will lend you a bike for the duration of the course that is as similar to your own bike as possible.
Children 10 years and older are welcome but anyone under 18 must attend with a responsible adult.
The cost is £20 per person, and we need a minimum number of participants to run the course. If you can afford more than £20, anything you give will be greatly appreciated, and will go directly towards our bursary scheme to make our courses more accessible.
We will confirm 7 days before the event that the course is going ahead, we reserve the right to cancel the event if there are not enough attendees - in this case you will be refunded or given a place on the next course.
After this point, if you are no longer able to attend unfortunately you can only get a refund if we or you are able to fill your place with someone else.
Access: the workshop is wheelchair accessible but the toilet is up one flight of stairs. There is free car parking outside the workshop.
