Mastering the Skill of Food Label-reading
Reading food labels, including the nutrition facts information, can be almost like reading another language. Understanding the food label and the various ingredients is very important and helpful for making healthy decisions about what you put into your body, but there are just so many words on these labels and some that we may have never seen before.
For this class, the instructor will be bringing in various food labels for us to practice with. We'll also compare the old and new (coming in 2018) nutrition facts labels and learn what nutrition information to really focus on when making our food decisions. Guests are welcome to bring a food label that they would like help reading or that they would like to share with the group.

Wilfredo Benitez, M.Ed.
Will is the owner of On Pace Wellness, offering nutrition and lifestyle coaching to those looking for improved wellness. As a former teacher, he is passionate about empowering others and communities through nutrition education to help people take their health back into their hands. Will graduates in July 2017 with a Master's degree in Nutrition and has been employing his education throughout Portland while teaching nutrition and cooking classes at New Seasons, Natural Grocers, Fred Meyer, and Whole Foods; he is excited to teach classes at The Side Yard Farm.
