Black Tie
Spring Comedy: Dixie Swim Club By A.R. Gurney; Directed by Erin McKiernan
Gurney has always been a favorite of Jewel Box audiences. In this offering, the father of the groom desperately (and comically) defends the time-honored ways of his past, including his attire. He insists on wearing the black tux of his dead father in spite of his familys warnings that hell be mistaken for a waiter. His much-rehearsed toast is replaced by the stand-up comedy act of the brides ex-husband. Cultures clash and Curtis finds that balancing the standards of his late father and the needs of his future family may prove too messy for a black tie affair.
Fridays & Saturdays 7:30 p.m. June 2-24, 2017. Sundays 2 p.m. June 4, 11, 18 & 25. Tickets are $16 for adults and $14 for seniors/students/military.
The theater is located at 225 Iverson St. in Poulsbo. More information at jewelboxpoulsbo.org or (360)697-3183.
