Improve your spoken word poetry writing and performance in a workshop series presented by the Victoria Poetry Project!
Writing for Performance with Aaron Simm: Improve your writing for performance with seven-time slam champion Aaron Simm. Whether you are new to spoken word poetry or looking to further hone your craft, this workshop will give you the tools to make the most of your on-stage performance. Bring writing supplies and a poem that you would like to have workshopped.
About the Workshop Leader: Aaron Simm is an award-winning poet, playwright, hip-hop artist, and workshop facilitator living in Victoria, BC. He is multiple time slam champion and has been a three-time finalist at the Canadian Individual Poetry Slam. He performed Places to Wait at the Toronto and Winnipeg Fringe Festivals to critical acclaim and is the author of the upcoming book A Turkey Named Courage. His writing has been published in literary journals including Contemporary Verse 2, Lemon Hound, Cede, and Arc Poetry, and he is the editor of oratorealis magazine. His work has been featured on stages and at festivals all across the country.
