Awaken Dance Theater Spring Gala
Come and see Awaken Dance Theater in its Spring Gala Performance! The company, which had it's first studio showing in early 2014, aims to make bold statements on social and political issues through dance. Using a variety of styles and techniques, we want to inspire the audience and community at large to think more about the topic being presented, and to take action if they are so inspired.
This performance will offer the audience the chance to see what weve been working on and enjoy our dynamic dancers.
This gala will be the the World Premiere of a new classical piece and will feature a performance of a brand new jazz piece by Awaken Dance Theater's first ever guest choreographer and company member Brianna Anderson!
We will also be performing numerous pieces, including On Words and Leaders, Mother Earth: An Exploration in Climate Change, and previewing a solo from our new work Seven Last Words.
The company has 10 stellar dancers, that come from all over the world, including the USA, Japan, Canada, Colombia, and France, and have trained at such prestigious academies as the Ailey School, Gelsey Kirkland Academy of Classical Ballet, and the Joffrey Ballet.
Tickets will be $15 in advance and $20 at the door. Performances are on Friday May 19th at 8:00pm at New York City Center, located at 131 W 55th Street in Manhattan.
