Luxury Scenes - Improv Workshop with Maria Peters
Based on the 'Monoscene' format, this workshop will be spent looking at 5 - 15 minute scenes.

When was the last time you got to sit in a world and really explore the relationship and characters without someone sweeping/tagging/flashing-backing/entering and taking it off in another direction?
There's nothing wrong with a bit of fast paced, high octane editing in a show but there's also nothing wrong with feeling comfortable riding one single scene and seeing where it could go.
All of the scenes in this class will take place in 1 location, with 2-4 characters and go for 5 -15 minutes. Providing space for the full spectrum of improvisation; Hilarity to poignancy, idiocy to intelligence, physicality, stillness, lightness & depth. This class allows the time and the patience to explore it all.
'But what if we get about 2 minutes in and the scene starts to die?' You may ask. Those are exactly the skills we'll be honing. Without the option of a pleading look to your offstage team to 'do something', it's down to you and your onstage players to revive the scene from within.
