This 1 HSW unit course will cover concrete deterioration, impact on coatings, performance and design.
Learning Objectives:
*Identify environmental and service related causes of concrete deterioration and the resultant effect on the structure.
*Understand the objectives of specifying protective coatings for concrete and the potential contribution this has on environmental and economic sustainability.
*Identify specific performance measures of coating systems and understand how these can counteract the environmental effects of concrete deterioration.
*Compare specific performance data points to assess absolute and relative performance of a coating system in theory and in practice.
