THE RENT PARTY PROJECT
Theatre Off Jackson
Seattle, WA
Share this event:

Join us for a reading of the latest draft of Valerie Curtis-Newton's new play.

The time is 1968. Julia Harris is throwing a party to raise money to free her husband, Hamp - a community activist from jail. As she prepares for the party, her family  - including the ghost of the matriarch Bessie - tries to come together to support the cause, but old patterns and grudges get in the way. Later at the party, family and friends - with even more diverse wants, needs, desires, opinions and secrets - gather and collide.

This is Act 1 of a two act project. The first act is scripted. The second will be immersive. We are reading Act 1 and doing some research for Act 2. Be a part of the development of this new work.
