CHRISTOPHER K. MORGAN POHAKU
Choreographer Morgan danced hula as a child in California, far from his familys Native Hawaii. For Phaku, an evening-length solo dance, Morgan brings together storytelling, hula, modern dance, classical music, and projection design. He incorporates his personal stories into the larger story of Hawaiis native people. Phaku features live music by Kumu Hula Elsie Kaleihulukea Ryder and classically trained electric cellist Wytold.
In addition to being Artistic director of his dance company, Christopher K. Morgan and Artists, Morgan is the Director of the Dance Omi International Dance Collective residency in Columbia County, NY.
