Dreams of Malinche
Written by Nora Sørena Casey Directed by Estefanía Fadul
Workshop process & Developmental presentation
March 10th, 2017 The Great Room, South Oxford Space
In Nora Sørena Casey's Dreams of Malinche, worlds collide in a powerful coming-of-age story about the complex friendship between two young women growing up in small town Ohio. On the verge of high school graduation, Emily, a first generation Mexican-American, and her best friend Sarah begin to realize how much their futures have been dictated by their pasts. Entwined with the story of Malinche, Cortez's translator and mistress during his campaign against the Aztec Empire, this story delves deep into the Hispanic experience in the United States, the indigenous stories of the Americas, and the intricate histories that bind us.
