The Making of the Book, The Bold Dry Garden
Please join us in the Library on Thursday, March 30 at 7:00pm to welcome Sunsets garden editor Johanna Silver as she discusses the making of her book, The Bold Dry Garden.
Johanna will share her unparalleled access into the life and garden of Ruth Bancroft, the Wests dry gardening pioneer. To make this gorgeous book, Silver spent 2 years working with esteemed photographer, Marion Brenner, and Ruths community, including her peerless horticulturalist, children, and friendsand Ruth herself (age 108!)to weave together the story of this inspirational and fearless plant collector.
Copies of The Bold Dry Garden, a Publishers Weekly Best Book of 2016, will be available for sale and for signing.
Johanna Silver is a San Franciscobased writer, editor, and garden designer. She is the garden editor at Sunset, where she also manages the editorial test garden. Johanna is a regular contributor to Sunset magazines, books, and videos. Her writing earned her a James Beard Award in 2009 for her contributions to the One-Block Diet blog and an ASME award for General Excellence in 2014. Her website is johannasilver.com.
