Atsushi Takenouchi: Jinen Butoh Performance
Atsushi Takenouchi is a Japanese dancer living in Paris and his work in Jinen butoh has taken him all over the globe to teach and perform solos in both theaters and unusual natural landscapes. He is called by many a kind of "shaman" of contemporary dance, transforming images and sensations deeply through movement. He is coming to Portland in conjunction with participating in Seattle's Butoh Festival at Velocity Dance this October. During his residency at The Headwaters he will be teaching a 20-hour intensive workshop with artists coming from all over the states to participate. On November 2nd, Takenouchi will present his own solo work and also direct the workshop participants in an original choreographic offering.
