Grandmother Power: A Global Phenomenon
Globally, there has been an increase in the need for grandparents to become primary caregivers of their grandchildren, perhaps due to the economy or other factors. Today's grandmothers are younger, healthier, and better educated, allowing them to better care for their grandchildren than in previous years. In addition, this allows grandmothers to serve as activists and positive role models in their communities. Grandmothers across the globe are effectively fighting against poverty, disease, illiteracy, and human rights abuses to "create a better world for grandchildren everywhere."
