IT'S CRIMINAL directed by Signe Taylor offers a fascinating window into a rural jail, an Ivy League college and what happens when these worlds collide. Shot in an intimate verite style, the feature documentary shares the life-changing experiences of 14 Dartmouth College students and 10 female prisoners who work together to write and perform an original play about the lives of the incarcerated women. The film captures the humanity of both the students, in all their privilege, and the prisoners, who are heartbreakingly articulate in their description of the lack of economic and legal justice in the United States.
