First Annual Chandeleur Party
On Feb. 26, Aux Petits Soins, Lansing's only French cultural center and French language immersion program, will host its first annual Chandeleur Party. This will be an authentic representation of Chandeleur, a French holiday that focuses on crêpes (thin, French-style pancakes). This will give Lansing-area residents a unique opportunity to experience some genuine French culture. If you would like to learn about about Aux Petits Soins, please check our website APSFrenchClass.com.
The cost will be $15 per person, or $12 if your tickets are purchased before Feb. 19. Kids under 2 are free. The price includes a sweet crêpe, a savory crêpe and a glass of non-alcoholic sparkling cider. There will also be a craft station for kids, a cooking station for adults and a round of traditional French songs that go with the beginning-of-the-year celebrations. Did we mention that there will be a crêpe flipping contest? Whether you're completely bilingual or don't know a word of French, this party has been designed to be fun and accessible for everyone. The only requirements are that you like crêpes and have an interest in French culture.
Save the date: our next event will be a Carnaval Celebration on March 26 that will introduce Lansing-area residents to the famed French pastry, beignets.
