Jeanette Williams, lead vocalist, bass player and award-winning songwriter, began her singing career in Danville VA in 1989, with a local country band performing at amateur recreations of the Grand Ole Opry. Since that time, she has been the recipient of a number of awards including the 2012 and 2009 SPBGMA Female Vocalist of the Year Award in the traditional category, named the Virginia Folk Music Association's State Champion Female Vocalist, PICABO Entertainer of the Year (4 times), and PICABO Female Vocalist (4 times). She has garnered no less than 8 nominations for SPBGMA Female Vocalist of the Year and is a 2005 graduate of IBMA Leadership Bluegrass.
Jeanette has been featured in both Bluegrass Unlimited, Bluegrass Now magazines to name a few. She has recorded more than 10 projects, including the critically acclaimed 1999 Doobie Shea Records release, "Cherry Blossoms in the Springtime", which spent 9 months on the Bluegrass Unlimited National Survey Album Chart. She is featured also featured on the "Daughters of Bluegrass, "Back To The Well" album that earned the group the prestigious IBMA Recorded Event of the Year Award in 2006 and on the group's 2008 album, "Bluegrass Bouquet."
The title track of Jeanette's last solo album, THANK YOU FOR CARING on Blue Circle Records, is a duet with country music legend George Jones. Written by Dixie and Tom T. Hall, the song tells the true story of a little girl Miss Dixie met while gathering items for the relief effort in the aftermath of hurricane Katrina. Although the family had few material possessions, the girl unselfishly donated her own chest of drawers, and tenderly commented, "Thank you for caring." A portion of the proceeds from album sales will be donated to the American Red Cross for continuing disaster relief.
THANK YOU FOR CARING also features Jeanette's award-winning "Enough Of You," recipient of the Chris Austin Songwriting Contest (bluegrass division) at MerleFest in 2007. Another stand-out song that spent months on Bluegrass Unlimited chart hit single, "Bad Money" written by Lonesome River Band lead singer and guitarist, Brandon Rickman. The Jeanette Williams Band has taken it's music to five foreign countries, Canada, Nova Scotia and most of the U.S.A.
Joning Jeanette in the band is her husband Johnny Williams on guitar. Johnny is a two-time winner (1998 & 99) of the Chris Austin Songwriting Contest. He has co-written with Tom T & Dixie Hall and had several songs recorded by major bluegrass artists such as Doyle Lawaon, Junior Sisk, Special Consensus, The Pratters and Jeanette. He is also an award winning male vocalist. Johnny is currently the Chairman of the newly formed organization "Blue Ridge Acoustic Uprising" in Southwestern VA. He co-founded the Dan River Region Bluegrass Association and served as president for five years. He is called on regularly to produce projects for bluegrass and old time bands.
Jody King from Cana VA. plays banjo and guitar for the band as well as being an accomplished songwriter. Jody tours with Larry Cordle and in the past was a member of The Lost and Found, New Vintage and After Five band. He is also a recording engineer and instrument builder of "King" instruments. Being a master of the banjo Jody has been a mentor to some of the industries best up and coming players.
Ronald Inscore from Ararat VA plays mandolin and sings. For years Ronald has been the "man" all the top bands call if they need a mandolin player to fill in on a show. He also plays guitar and has been on numerous recordings over the years as a guest musician. Some of his tours included Lou Reid Band, The Boxcars, Mountain Heart and III Time Out.
