A poetry slam is a competition between poets performing original work judged by members of the audience. This poetry slam is organized by Jacob Winterstein, Kai Davis and Jasmine Combs.
Come perform, watch or judge.
**Poets wishing to compete should arrive at 8:30 to put their names in the hat. For this month all poets who put their name in the hat pay $5. At 9:00pm poets names will be picked out of the hat. Some poets will be pre-selected.**
The Pigeon* is excited to announce that this month's feature and workshop** leader:
MARVIN HODGES
Marvin Hodges II was a finalist for the 2016 "Two Sylvia's Press" Chapbook Prize. In 2015 he was a member of the 2nd place poetry team at CUPSI 2015. His peers voted him "Best Poet" at CUPSI 2016.
Marvin is passionate about historical/heritage conservation/ urban design/sustainable living/mental health in communities of color/artistic expression in all healthy forms/and orange peeling. He is fully aware this was a run-on sentence.
