A young, naive woman, Penny Wisp, travels from Chicago to visit her late mothers sister's honey plantation in rural Mississippi in 1965 on the eve of the annual Beekeeper's Ball. Dark family secrets involving the questionable death of Penny's mother unfold as the honey baroness, Greva Crawfish, controls and manipulates her alcoholic husband, Trent Crawfish, and various members of the eccentric household, including a cracked southern belle who was left at the altar as Greva drove off with the respective groom; Trent. On the night of the ball, Greva descends into madness and must pay final justice for the heinous sins of her past.
