Martin on Hinckley on Foster - RHINOFEST 2017

"One may even accuse Martin of following Fosters career with the same obsessive fervor as Hinckley." [Lucia Mauro, Chicago Theater] Fifteen years later, Michael Martin revisits his most acclaimed solo show,Hinckley on Foster: The Hearing, in a sequel that marks the release from the asylum of would-be Reagan assassin John Hinckley by abandoning all pretense of theatrical embodiment. This time the speaker is Martin, his silent listener is Hinckley - who is barred by the terms of his release from speaking to the press, ever - and Foster? Foster is nowhere to be found. "A tour de force of desperate, Dostoyevskian fury...a minor masterpiece in the grand tradition of the overliterate madman, concealing layers of truth beneath its ravings." [Brian Nemtusak, Chicago Reader] But without a net, this time.
