The Spider
Bulgarian Cultural and Heritage Center, Seattle with the support of Consulate General of the Republic of Bulgaria in Los Angeles and BG Voice, Chicago presents : Penko Gospodinov and Anastassia Liutova in The Spider. This is one of the most successful Bulgarian contemporary plays written and directed by Dimitar Kasabov and Yordan Slaveykov. It tells us the story of adult conjoined twins on the eve of their separation surgery. In a very intimate way they share all the unspoken words, forgotten mistakes, never experienced loves, and the desire for freedom. The English subtitles are projected behind the actors, but as the NYC periodical Village Voice says: "the depth of their brave, raw performances transcends language." The theatrical play has received many nominations and awards. It has been previously shown in New York, Saint Petersburg, and Moscow. Both the Village Voice and the New York Times wrote rapturous reviews.
