The staff of life: bread abounds in culture, art, religion, and our bodies. But how is it made? Who makes it and why? Empowered and healthy consumers understand the production of their favorite products: wine, cars, music, Mardi Gras, computers. We will discuss the ingredients, history, tools, and processes that create bread and flour. We will learn to produce incredible, healthy, and flavorful bread with no-tech equipment and fresh flour.
In this class we will be baking:
Louisiana Wheat and Spent Grain Fougasse
Kalamata Olive Country Bread
Kamut Ciabatta with Texas Olive Oil
Traditional Bialys
