Understanding the Connection Between Seeing and Drawing

Drawing can be an important tool in personal growth practices, and anyone who can write their name can learn to draw realistically. The mystery of drawing is solved by learning to identify the basic elements of shape and practicing the connection between eye and hand.
The group will follow steps together, to hear and see the process of decoding an image in order to draw it realistically. Understanding this process results in greater confidence in drawing. Confidence is the first step toward mastering this most basic form of visual language.
All materials will be provided, including colored pencils and inks for finishing our work.
Kristin Slava has taught drawing to all ages of students for the past 20 years. She is a freelance illustrator, musician, and environmental artist, currently working at Preschool of the Arts.
