Food and Environment Working Group - Food Systems Tour of the Bay Area
The Food and Environment Working Group is a cross-disciplinary group made up of members of the American Public Health Association who are working towards improving public health through promoting safe, healthy, equitable, and sustainable food systems.
This year the Working Group is hosting a tour to coincide with the APHA Annual Meeting. The tour will take place on Saturday October 27, from about 10am to 4pm in and around the San Francisco Bay area. Although not all details are yet finalized, expect to do some or all of the following:
-Visit a farmers market and hear about their approach to food equity and incorporating SNAP into their programming
-Learn about efforts to improve healthy food access and education in the Bay Area
-See an urban organic farm
-Visit a produce distribution center to get a sense of what it takes to get healthy food to folks who need it
We look forward to seeing you there!
