Pregnancy and Substance Use Training
This day long training will orient the MCO Care Coordination staff to the breadth of information needed to support positive treatment and pregnancy outcomes for women with substance use disorders. Topics will include connecting to prenatal care, engagement in gender responsive treatment, medication assisted treatment, NAS, the role of child welfare and effective community collaboration. Case studies will be used to illustrate the complexity of typical cases and the array of approaches needed to support families. Former gender-responsive substance use disorder treatment program directors, Connie Renz, LCSW and Sherri Green, PhD, LCSW will be part of the training team as well as the North Carolina Pregnancy Substance Use Specialist, Judith Johnson Hostler, LCAS and Melissa Godwin, LCSW.
