Ralph Towner - Solo
A true master of the fret board, guitarist Ralph Towner has led a varied and successful career, including work with a range of notable figures and ensembles, and founder of the lauded quartet Oregon. However, it is in the solo guitar setting that the spotlight truly shines on his virtuosic abilities and the fact that his musical vision is just as clear on his own than when he is collaborating with an ensemble. With a striking command of dynamics, Towner combines many elements of folk, classical and world music into his playing and has become a flagship artist of the renowned ECM record label. Towner draws the listener in and carefully presents a singularly sensitive and expressive approach to solo guitar. In addition to nearly two-dozen releases on ECM as a leader and co-leader with vibraphonist Gary Burton and bassist Gary Peacock, Towner has made indelible contributions to the work of Paul Winter and Weather Report.
