Event
Through a Jewish Lens
Thursdays, Trimester 2 I Mr. Michael Duke 9:30 AM - 10:30 AM I Merfish Teen Center
Its no coincidence that in the panoply of eminent photojournalists and social documentary photographers of the 20th century, many of the greats were Jewish. From Robert Capa and Robert Frank, to Helen Levitt and Mary Ellen Mark, Bruce Davidson to Elliot Erwitt and Diane Arbus to Micha Bar-Am these professionals recorded many of the seminal events and trends of this past century, and did so, literally, through a Jewish lens. Participants will examine a body of work from a different Jewish photojournalist every week, and consider how each one used his or her talents to call attention to issues of social justice and tikkun olam.
