North Portland Gentrification Tour
The Black community in North Portland has a rich and diverse culture built on friendships, business and social connections  all of which have been adversely affected by urban development and gentrification. This bus tour educates participants as to the rise, fall and efforts to reunite Portland's Black neighborhoods. Site include the Hughes Memorial United Methodist Church for storytelling and song by community elders, and a soul food lunch (not included in ticket price) with local legendary jazz musicians at a local Masonic Lodge. Afterwards, board the bus and learn about many sites of historical importance, including homes and businesses of prominent African Americans, hotels and shipyards, and the former site of Vanport City.
