Ellie Quinn's Burlesque Scholars
This will be a two day intensive workshop over a month period, wrapping up with you getting your chance on stage! Open to all. Learn the art of the tease in the same space you will be performing.
Day 1: Saturday January 28th 1:00-6:00pm the basics
Day 2: Saturday February 25th 1:00-6:00pm act creation
The Show! Saturday March 18th 9:00pm
This workshop series will cover all the following and more: brief history of burlesque, creating your stage name, basic vocabulary, peels and reveals, prop work, posing for the camera, tassel twirling, floor work, chair work, web pages, stage tech, industry secrets, how to get booked, entering and exiting the stage, breathing, tension, eye contact, lip syncing, making faces, pointing toes, shoe removal, how to walk in heels, basic group choreography, basic stage makeup, walking in heels, wardrobe mishaps, technical difficulties, corsets, ABC laws of Virginia, storytelling, tributes, song choice, costuming decision, pastie creation, kittening, promoting, social media.
You will receive all the tools for your burlesque debut!
I will teach a quick group routine on the first day, which you will have the opportunity to perform that night (optional). This workshop includes admission to the show on January 28th, where you receive a backstage pass to the inner workings of a show.
In between the two classroom sessions, Ellie will be readily available via email, Facebook (we will have a private group), and phone for any questions as they arise.
The workshop includes one 1 hour Skype/Facetime session for whatever you need. Private in person lessons can be arranged as well, schedule permitting.
You will receive handouts and other resources to take with you, as well as a burlesque starter kit.
