EXIT, PURSUED BY A BEAR

Meet Nan and Kyle Carter, a couple out in the woods of Georgia, whose relationship has become toxic and abusive. With the help of her best friend, Simon, and a stripper named Sweetheart, Nan has a plan in mind to make Kyle change his ways, or else free herself from him. After taping him to his recliner, they force him to watch as they reenact painful memories from Kyle and Nans past. If Kyle does not undergo some sort of catharsis by the final act, then theyll cover the room with thawed meat and honey to attract bears to maul Kyle.
Nans trio becomes a new, makeshift family through their ridiculous plan of forced catharsis through performance, and they are there to support each others hopes for the future. Sweetheart has dreams of becoming an actress, Simon wants to be the host of a daytime talk show, Nan wants to stand up for herself and live her own life, and once they free Nan from her abusive past they plan on a road trip to Los Angeles to achieve their dreams. The only obstacle that stands in front of them is Kyle, and his reminder of the good times Nan and him shared.
Lauren Gundersons Exit, Pursued By a Bear is a farcical revenge comedy, with over the top meta-theatrics, that touches on domestic abuse and the necessity of friendship. By the time the bears appear, these characters lives will have changed for the good, the bad, and the mauled.
