Most People: A Work in Progress
Join us for a Work in Progress showing of Most People, a collaborative, explorative dance & video work directed by Nic Koller & Kate Morales.
Sometimes we are incapable of getting the important things done. Procrastination, self-deprecation, low expectations, misinformation, all lead directly to our individual failures. History repeats itself through economic recession, fear mongering & inaction in the face of Fascism. People relapse, relationships resume their old patterns & artists miss their deadlines. As long as were fed, were okay, right? Most People is the first draft of a dance/video installation that explores the individual & collective dysfunctionality of human behavior.
About the Artists
Nic is a multi-disciplinary artist exploring the boundaries of collage in video, painting & installation. His works tell emotional narratives through depictions of individuals & their everyday lives. For the past two years, hes been developing the (live-action animated) video collage style seen in his experimental shorts: Estevan s Koreatown & At Home (with Marisol & Sam), which premieres at the Video Art and Experimental Film Festival on November 11th. He recently moved to Brooklyn & probably wants to be your friend.
Kate is a dancer and choreographer based in Ridgewood, Queens. She has been presenting and performing original work throughout Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens for the past 5 years, most recently as a cast member in Saga Dance Company's sKIN at Center for Performance Research. She founded Amnesis Dance (née L&K Dance) with Lara Mahler in 2014, and their work has been part of festivals at Greenspace, Socrates Sculpture Park and HB Studios. Kate holds a BFA in Dance and Choreography from the California Institute of the Arts, and has dreams of one day working as a United States Supreme Court Justice.
