Too Much Information!
Following successful runs in Rosendale, Ellenville, Woodstock and Brooklyn, Starling Productions' TMI Project is taking "Too Much Information!" - an evening of true, workshopped, monologues - over the New York State line for the first time, to Northampton, Mass.

On Friday, October 5th at 8 pm, ten women will take the stage at the Northampton Center for the Arts ( http://nohoarts.org), in the widely acclaimed production, directed by Starling executive director, Eva Tenuto.

The monologues are all true stories, written by the people performing them, and developed during a weekly writing and performing workshop run, currently, by Tenuto and TMI Project editorial director, Sari Botton. Within the show, and often within particular monologues, there is a tremendous range of poignancy and humor. You'll laugh; you'll cry.

"Too Much Information!" and the TMI Project were launched in 2010, after Tenuto had directed "The Vagina Monologues" twice and wanted to get women writing and telling their own stories instead. The show was a huge hit, moving audiences in a greater way than Tenuto anticipated. "People came up to me and said, 'I want to do that!'" She recalls. "And later, I heard there were audience members who started opening up like never before on their car rides home. The desire to tell the truth is infectious."

After the success of that run, Tenuto launched a writing workshop, and tapped Botton and improv coach/performer Julie Novak to join her in teaching it. She put the focus on getting the women to tell the parts of their stories that they usually leave out because they're too embarrassing or painful.

In other words, "Too Much Information!" explores stories we are afraid to tell but long to hear. "There's something both cathartic and connective about revealing our deepest and darkest  not to mention our most embarrassing moments," Tenuto says. "The personal is universal, and in sharing their stories, TMI participants help to reveal common threads in all our lives."

TMI celebrates the tradition of storytelling, and aims to elevate it to a higher level of theatrical performance. The result is monologues that touch, move and inspire, written and performed by people from all walks of life. In presenting a diverse mix of stories from all corners of our world, TMI strives to bring about greater understanding of people we often know least about.

"Come hear the truth about our transitions, challenges and moments of growth, pride and accomplishment," suggests Tenuto. "Yes, we're a bit reluctant to stand in front of an audience and tell our sometimes painful truth  but we're going to do it anyway!  Because sharing our stories is empowering and uplifting to both actor and audience!  You'll laugh, you'll cry and maybe you'll share your own TMI in the car ride home!"

Directed once again by Tenuto, "Too Much Information" will be performed Friday, October 5th at 8 PM at the Northampton Center for the Arts. In addtion to Tenuto and Novak, the cast includes Patty Curry, Valerie Eagle, Ilyse Simon, Verna Gillis, Sandra Capellaro, Megan Leigh, Jessica Barry and Kris Garnier.
