Having cut his teeth in Miles Davis's 1980s comeback band, guitarist Mike Stern is a six-time Grammy nominee who first jumped on the scene as a member of Blood, Sweat & Tears and through his work with legendary drummer Billy Cobham. With heavy doses of prog-rock infused in his playing, Stern is a true virtuoso capable of dreamy, emotive ballads and searing jazz-rockers. The fact that his most recent album, Eclectic, is a collaboration with contemporary blues-rocker Eric Johnson speaks to the genre-less scope and appeal of Sterns playing. The Mike Stern Band is rounded out by saxophonist Bob Franceschini, bassist Tom Kennedy and drummer Dave Weckl.
