Special Tour Marion Mahony Griffin in Frank Lloyd Wrights Studio with Special Viewing of the Wasmuth Portfolio
Marion Mahony was Wrights first professional employee when she was hired in 1895, and she stayed with his office for nearly 15 years rendering buildings and landscapes that became known as a staple of Wright's style. Our tour will visit the beautiful studio off of Wrights Oak Park home, where we will learn about the role Marion played in the projects in the Golden Years of Wrights office (1895-1910). We will then visit the Special Collections librarian at the Oak Park Public Library where we will have a special viewing of the influential Wasmuth Portfolio, for which she created more than half of the numerous renderings. We will drive past a number of the Oak Park and River Forest buildings that she played a part in designing.
Note: This tour will run rain or shine and will include being on your feet and walking. Please bring a snack and water for the bus ride home.
